Dif’raunt (2014)

1. Good Morning to You
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

hey, are you feeling okay?
I don’t like how you mope for the life that you chose
are you feeling alone?
Because you could have stayed home,
But you didn’t, you’re here,
and i’m happy you’re here, you’re a trooper.

hey, don’t look at me that way,
I’m your greatest support
get your eyes off the floor,
want some coffee?

you have a lot on your existential plate, so what do you say?
it doesn’t have to be that way
and that is why I always say,

“good morning to you.” good morning to you
and even though the sun don’t want to come out
you know what I’m talking about because it’s
it’s always raining.

i’m talking to you, i’m talking to you
and even though you don’t wanna here what I’ve said
I’m so glad you got out of your bed because you’re
you’re always crazy

you have the life you have filled with pain
you have filled with joy and you are insane
but that’s okay because so am I
I can cry on cue and sing the blues

but I always come back to a place of goodwill
and I’m happy to feel all the feels

you have a lot on your existential plate, so what do you say?
and it can always be that way,
and that is why I always say,

“good morning to you.” good morning to you
and even though the sun don’t want to come out
you know what I’m talking about because it’s
it’s always raining.

i’m talking to you, i’m talking to you
and even though you don’t wanna here what I’ve said
I’m so glad you got out of your bed because you’re
you’re always crazy

“good morning to you.” good morning to you
and even though the sun don’t want to come out
you know what I’m talking about because you’re
you’re always crazy just like me.

3. Safeword
Lyrics by Brendan Mack
Music and Vocals by John Paul Sharp

when you have a good buddy and you trust each other
you can tell them a secret for when you play pretend
you can tell them your safeword
a secret phrase that lets them know:
“STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING … but we’re still best friends”
still best friends

be free to be the best you and me
to do whatever you want, be the dog or the tree
you can have playtime without apology
your body is a lock and your safeword is the key
let’s share our safewords with our new friends in the audience:
“broccoli, velcro, salad fork, bungee cord”
isn’t it great that we came up with safewords?
“flip-flop, shoeshine, Timothy McVeigh”

i used to be afraid and nervous
and didn’t know the right way to be
when my friends want to play when I didn’t want to
but my safeword lets me be a freak and be free
but my safeword lets me be a freak
but my safeword lets me be so free

any word can be a safeword:
goldfish, banana, diamond ring
apartheid, Leviticus, diary of Anne Frank,
red rum, Puyallup, Mayor McGinn,
diarrhea, Liberace, Kirstie Alley’s neck rolls,
pretty pony, jabberwocky, grandma’s gunch smells,
Westboro baptist church, dirty old catheters,
lemon party, red ferrari, timmy’s in the wall,
fire, fire, fire, like sands through the hourglass,
jimmy cracked corn and I don’t care

the most important way to choosing your safeword
is to choose a weird one you’ll remember and share
and don’t forget it!

4. For Tonight
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp
Vocals by Saya Jean Burchfield and John Paul Sharp

feel the love is all around you now
take someone’s hand and hold them close to you
tell your friend how much you love them so
for all you’ve been through and the struggles you have overcome
together.

and forget the pain for tonight
everything’s alright, just as long as you are here.
no room for fear, ’cause I’m here
everything’s alright, ’cause tonight’s our special night.

i think you’re beautiful and special just as you are
i wouldn’t change a single thing, no way
you shine so bright the way you do the things you do
and I love you no matter how it all turns out

and forget the pain for tonight
everything’s alright, just as long as you are here.
no room for fear, ’cause I’m here
everything’s alright, ’cause tonight’s our special night.
so forget the pain, for tonight
everything’s alright, just as long as you are here
there is nothing left to fear, my dear

forget the pain, for tonight, everything’s alright.

5. Tired of Being Lonely
Music and Lyrics by Javan H.
Vocals by John Paul Sharp

lonely nights in bed as I’m spendin’ my time
thinkin’ back to when I hated myself
i hear the rain against my window as
I figure out why I let things happen this way

I tell myself every day that it’ll get better
I think of the times when I’d sacrifice my values
all in the name of tryin’ to be someone I don’t wanna’ be

I can’t enjoy life the way I used to
I’m afraid that the past will come back to haunt me
and I can’t keep my head up because I’m constantly wondering
if no one will want me

I look to the sky and I hope and pray
’cause I’m tired of being lonely
it crosses my mind every single day
that I’m tired of being lonely
I long for the day I can finally say
that I have a one and only (you’re my one and only)
I look to the sky and I hope and I pray
’cause I’m tired of being lonely (my first and one and only)
tired of bein’ lonely

wipe these tears away, come make me feel okay

’cause I’m tired of being lonely
and I can’t keep my head up because I’m constantly wondering
if no one will want me

I look to the sky and I hope and pray
’cause I’m tired of being lonely
it crosses my mind every single day
that I’m tired of being lonely
I long for the day I can finally say
that I have a one and only (you’re my one and only)
I look to the sky and I hope and I pray
’cause I’m tired of being lonely (my first and one and only)
tired of bein’ lonely, tired of bein’ lonely
tired of bein’ lonely

6. Finger it Out
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

i’ve never met you, but we’ve met before
we’ve been around this old block before
and I been thinkin’ about the place and time
and then you looked me in the eyes and
I just put my finger on it.
I just put my finger on it, hey, hey, hey
I just put my finger on it.
you’ve got a different face, but your eyes are the same,
oh, yeah I know your name.

(you better run)

7. You’re the One
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

i’m the one who gave it to you
even though I barely knew you
I’m the one who threw it up
and you threw it back in my face
now I see the very part of me that
i never wanted to know or acknowledge
there it is – out on the table
and I am unable to act like there
is nothing going on
you’re acting like a con
and you’re wrong, yeah, you’re wrong!

I can’t be just like a normal person,
fade away and carry on
that’s not me, I’m not that kind of person
to live life with loose ends, like living a lie
I only wish I were a braver person
nip it in the bud and say it right to your face
instead I wait until it’s too late
give you all the power with one of my infamous emails
i really write well, raisin’ hell, raisin’ hell, yeah!

you’re the one who pushes all my buttons
every single chance that you get
you’re the one who set me free
to learn from these problems
become a better person
and that’s what’s got me so confused
got me feelin’ so abused
I don’t know what I should do
should I hate you or should I love you?
maybe it’s both or none at all, oh
maybe it’s both or none at all,

say it to your face (no more letters)
say it to your face (no more emails)

Music by Paul Michael Escalante
Lyrics, Melody and Vocals by John Paul Sharp

another day, another dollar, another loaded gentleman caller
‘gonna’ make him feel a little taller when I make him make me holler
we all get bills to pay and I’m gonna pay mines today
got a lot of notes that just won’t go away
so I put on my nine-inch platform heels and I head out the door

I got a craving in my holes and I’m savin’ it for y’alls
getcho’ money outcho’ pockets all ya’ gold
are you ready to rock ‘n’ roll?

you can pet my pussy, you can punch my tammy
you can bet that i’ll get wet – listen baby, you haven’t seen anything yet.
let me show you how to do it – put it in to get my fluid
get me gushin’, get me flushin’, getcha’ money out and we’ll be mushin’
you look just like the kind of guy that I like to have inside

I got a craving in my holes and I’m savin’ it for y’alls
getcho’ money outcho’ pockets all ya’ gold
are you ready to rock ‘n’ roll?

11. Better Bitch
Music and Melody by John Paul Sharp
Lyrics and Vocal by Jason Dooley
Backup Vocal by John Paul Sharp

you might be broke, but you’re not broken
you’re still standing tall
push yourself, bring your spirit back to life
they may throw shade and cut you down
they haven’t beat you yet
you are worth it; you can be the better bitch.

show the world how to move on,
just be fierce – keep it strong
step it up – there’s a roll you have to play
catch a glimpse in the mirror
you wipe the fear away
’cause tonight, you’re gonna serve some face
on they stage.

you might be broke, but you’re not broken
you’re still standing tall
push yourself, bring your spirit back to life
they may throw shade and cut you down
they haven’t beat you yet
you are worth it; you can be the better bitch.

show the world how to move on,
just be fierce – keep it strong
step it up – there’s a roll you have to play
catch a glimpse in the mirror
you wipe the fear away
’cause tonight, you’re gonna serve some face
on they stage.

12. All This Time
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

Backup Vocals by Jason Dooley and Meg Thompson

you went the distance, then you lost your mind, oh
I tried to fix it, but I ran out of time, oh
and it’s burnin’ inside, oh, yeah,
and it’s burnin’ inside, oh,
and I’m losin’ my mind when I’m losin’ all this time.

i loved you deeply, gave you all i had, oh
that counts for something, even though it’s so sad, oh
and it’s burnin’ inside, oh, yeah,
and it’s burnin’ inside, oh,
and I’m losin’ my mind when I’m losin’ all this time.

Why?

I’ll never tell what I really feel, oh
because the distance, it is all too real, oh
and it’s burning inside, oh, yeah,
and it’s burning inside, oh,
and I’m losin’ my mind when I’m losin’ all this time.

13. Unspoken
Music by John Paul Sharp

14. Give it Up
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

everything got far too easy, comfortable
so I got good at having messy talks
and I knew the day was comin’ up
but I stayed true and tried to be the man I thought you needed.

and it’s what you said, so I won’t give another thought
to the breaking of my heart
and it’s what you can’t say, so I’ll go, give it up
for the sake of what’s to come

well, I dived in and it was easier than expected
but as time grew the glimmer fades away
yet all the things I said I didn’t want to do
I can now do, so now I’m holding to that

and it’s what you said, so I won’t give another thought
to the breaking of my heart
and it’s what you can’t say, so I’ll go, give it up
for the sake of what’s to come
and it’s what we won’t do, so we’re through,
finished up for the sake of what’s to come,
for the sake of broken hearts to start
and it’s what you said, so I won’t give another thought
