1. Welcome to the Show! (Live ’08)

2. Little Speckles on the TV Screen (Live ’08)
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp
Piano performed by Paul Michael Escalante

What do you remember from
That fateful day of death and doom?
I remember bodies falling from the sky like tears of blue.

Did you see it? Little Speckles On the TV Screen?
Are the Spirits of the Towers — Are they wondering –

Why we never seemed to learn?
A thing of hope and fear of amends.
Looking down from heaven,
Are they shaking heads and wringing hands?

Getting ready For another Major hate attack?
It’s no matter If it happens again, But when it comes
Back to haunt us.
Back to haunt us.
Back to haunt us again.

What’s your problem? Don’t just sit there,
Get up on your feet!
See the problem? Let’s go protest!
Get out on the streets!

When will we learn that war is wrong?
This global home of ours is sacred.
I’d have never dreamed that I would
Live in such a world of complacence.

3. The Singers! (Live ’08)

4. Dragoness (Live ’08)

Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp
Performed by University of Colorado Denver singers

Do you believe In mystic things?
In times of kings gone by? Trees that cry?
Winds that sigh on a full moon’s night?

In one past life
I could fly to the highest of highs in the sky
I could swim in the deepest of deep oceans
And in this light
I can only begin to describe what it’s like
To be living the life of a dragoness

I used to be So wild and free
I set the streets on fire To inspire
Knights for hire in search of me and my scaly feet

In one past life
I could fly to the highest of highs in the sky
I could swim in the deepest of deep oceans
And in this light
I can only begin to describe what it’s like
To be living the life of a dragoness

Lonely days and boring nights
I’d rather take a flight to far off lands
Like I used to in the good ole days when
dragons were real
And you could touch and feel them … that was me …

In one past life
I could fly to the highest of highs in the sky
I could swim in the deepest of deep oceans
And in this light
I can only begin to describe what it’s like
To be living the life of a dragoness

5. Ghost of an Ex-Boyfriend (Live ’08)
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

My ghost of an ex-boyfriend,
He knows what’s in the next dimension.
He goes every where I go.

And 1st Corinthians has been with me
since the end of his life.
And 1st Corinthians will haunt me ‘till the end of time.

What can I do to cancel this devotion?
I’m through with living in slow motion.
I’ve tried to say all my goodbyes!

He follows me around and wallows in the
sound of my voice.
He sits atop my bed and watches me undress …

Oh God, come tell this man why he must understand
Oh God, come take this man away as fast as you can
Oh, we are no longer to be!
For I am alive And he is dead.

When love carries over to the other side,
Just be wary of the one who died,
If he can’t let go! Can’t let go!

What can I do to cancel this devotion?
I’m through with living in slow motion.
I’ve tried to say all my goodbyes!

And 1st Corinthians has been with me
since the end of his life.
And 1st Corinthians will haunt me ‘till the end of time
End of time End of Time.

6. Reality (Live ’08)
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp
Guitar performed by Steve Varney

i’ve been thinkin’ about a way to give my life a jump-start
i’ve been lookin’ for a place where I can follow my heart
this reality was fun, but I think i’m done for now

I wanna’ be on a reality show
I wanna’ see what’s really goin’ on with me

love a challenge while the world is watching,
living in rooms
get off balance to see if I am truly capable too
this could really be my thing –
this could be my new dream for now

I wanna’ be on a reality show
I wanna’ see what’s really goin’ on with me

5. Chicago (Live ’08)
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

try and relate to you
you don’t hear a thing, you’re not listening
all you want to do is teach
as though I can’t see
as though i’m incapable
all I can say is that we’re wasting our time

and by tomorrow, I’ll be in Chicago
take these sorrows

don’t get me wrong
it’s not like I don’t have faults all of my own
i just thought you had some too
oh what did I do?
what makes me incapable?
well, I guess that it will have to wait

’cause by tomorrow, I’ll be in Chicago
take these sorrows everything will be fine
i’ll be back in a week or so
for myself, I must find a better day
i’ll be back in a week
’cause you don’t care about me
for myself I must find a better day

and by tomorrow, I’ll be in Chicago
take these sorrows
and by tomorrow, I’ll be in Chicago
take these sorrows and leave ’em behind

8. The Nothing (Live ’08)
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

if I drink one more, i’ll be hitting the floor
i’m having a problem chasing these blues away
if it’s not one thing, it’s another, oh boy
tears may fall like rain, but i’ll be back up again and again
I could disappear for good

up all night from hitting the pipe – yikes
i’m having a problem connecting the dots today
it’s it’s not one thing, it’s a cover, oh boy
try to hide my face,
but i’ll get back there again and again
I could disappear for good, for good, for good, good
i’m misunderstood, again

good to be here, though I think it is queer
i’m having a problem – the demons are just at bay
there is The Nothing to discover
nothing to take away,
but i’d go back there again and again
’cause I could disappear for
I could disappear for
I could disappear for good

9. Valerie (You Are Loved) (Live ’08)
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp
Performed by the University of Colorado Denver singers

she was so popular she was so cool
she was the best friend of everyone she knew
but things were different in her own mind
she saw the world as cruel and so unkind
how our lives can be a lie
it’s a shame that she was right

Valerie, Valerie, you are loved
you are loved so much by everybody
and everyone that you touched
you are loved, you are loved

she was my sister, she’ll always be
and now, my angel, as she watches over me
so get your drinks up and sing along
so that my sister really knows that she belonged
it’s a shame that she is gone
well, I hope she hears this song

Valerie, Valerie, you are loved
you are loved so much by everybody
and everyone that you touched
you are loved, you are loved

Valerie, Valerie, you are loved
you are loved so much by everybody
and everyone that you touched
you are loved, so rest in peace

10. Sabrina, etc. (Live ’08)

11.  Drama Queen (Live ’08)
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

No matter if I scream of if I shout, Nobody listens.
Nobody ever tries to hear me out
To what I’m all about.
I’m feeling so ignored!
I’m feeling downright bored with this behavior!

They say the reason why is that I cry To get attention.
Believe me when I say that I could die!
And did I mention,
Two little dreadful words
some one said to hurt my feelings even more?

Oh, Drama Queen! Oh, Drama Queen!
Drama Drama Drama Drama
Save the Drama for your Mama!
That is all I hear from people!
Oh, Drama Queen! Oh, Drama Queen!
Drama Drama Drama Drama
Maybe I can save my momma,
Only if you’d give me one more chance!

Gimme’ one more chance!
I’ll get it right without a fight and
If you don’t let me try, I might just have to
cry once more again!
Cry once more again!

12. Sensitivity is a Disability 2.13.06
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

I want you to know that I I’m ready to go
’cause this old world is gettin’ to me
sensitivity seems to be a disability (ha ha ha)

I don’t understand why you think that
I should close my eyes
ignore the weight of the worrisome land
I don’t understand
for that’s the day that I die (bu-bu-bye, my friend)

you think that I’ll lose my mind but
I prefer to unearth my view

keep chewin’ your carbamazapine
I’ll just be quietly screaming
finding places to hide
places in another time
and so, until I get it right (la-la-la)

don’t be surprised
everything will be just fine
I’m off to Heaven’s Gate
and please don’t cry
everything will be just fine
I’m off to Heaven’s Gate

13. About “What God Intended 2.20.06

14. What God Intended 2.20.06
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

I was chillin’ in my little haze,
then this lady went and then she came
and she said, “What ya’ doin’ in that little nook?
Whatcha’ doin’ with that little book?”
and I said “Gettin’ fucked up on philosophy.
I’m gonna’ figure out the mystery,
the magical form of mind over matter,
where nothing really happens anymore.”

And she said, “You don’t need a book to give you that
and I’m as sure of that as sure as I shat this morning.
Let us break the wind and try to relax!
Don’t give in to all those high class acts and notions!
What you want is how you get your kicks.
Without your kicks your life ain’t worth a shit

and we, as humans, are allowed to heal,
and we were born to touch and feel.”

So then she kissed my face; made it tickle.
I felt so out of place; in a pickle.
“This is what God intended –
gave us wounds so we would tend them.”
That’s what she said and then she belched.
(Whew! I mean – Ugh!)

6 a.m. alarm is ringing at last.
Time I spent to dream I spent too fast, my friend.
I realize the time and get my ass in gear and
figure out a way to pass the test.
My old thinking might have gotten the best – yes –
my old Dream King might have gotten the best of
me and Mary, Mary and I …
… but I’m not like this all the time.

15. Masterpiece 2.25.06
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

time is like a river it’s not on our side
it finds the path of least resistance
it’s all in our minds love encourages
love inspires us to live our lives

don’t forget to thank the people
people who have built you up
don’t forget to thank yourself
for taking your canvas and coloring up
here’s to what we do
here’s to all we do to love ourselves

’cause we are a painting
ev’ry thing we say and do becomes a color
reds, greens, blues, and yellows
and all that is called ‘the in-between”
you are a masterpiece

when thing’s are lookin’ grey
maybe there’s too much black and white
it’s so easy to doubt to yourself
to think you don’t belong
well, you are wrong, my friend, you’re wrong
you are no worse, no better than the rest
you’re one of the best

there is nothing worse
when you neither laugh nor cry
life ends once you decide you can’t create
so get out there and paint

’cause we are a painting
ev’ry thing we say and do becomes a color
reds, greens, blues, and yellows
and all that is called ‘the in-between”
you are a masterpiece

16. Straight to Your House 3.13.06
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

I sure could use a break
I’ve had about as much as I can take
And I’d give anything To see you again
Yes, I’d do anything
‘Cause I’m your number one fan
It’s you I want to apprehend
Until the end of the line

If you come back to me, I promise
I won’t just throw it away
I’ll give it all that I got
For just one more shot
I got a ticket to a train that goes straight to your house

Ten thousand times I’ve gone and died
Since I reached out and you replied
I know you don’t know me
Like I now know you
With all that you’ve shown to be
Now I know what I want to do
Calm, collected and cool,
I’m on the hunt for you

If you come back to me, I promise
I won’t just throw it away
I’ll give it all that I got
For just one more shot
I got a ticket to a train that goes straight to your house

To your house, yeah, yeah, To your house

If you come back to me, I promise
I won’t just throw it away
I’ll give it all that I got
For just one more shot
I got a ticket to a train that goes straight to your house

17. Mr. Moneybags 4.07.06
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp and Paul Michael Escalante
Piano performed by Paul Michael Escalante

save a little each month and you might be surprised
you might be surprised at just how little that you have
bet your bottom dollar you will lose in your investment
maybe it would be a good idear to rob the bank

mr. moneybags, the friend I never had
won’t you pour upon the rain
numb the pain with cold hard cash

let’s buy items that we can’t afford to feel better
dig our graves with fancy plots so far beyond our means
maybe they won’t have such proper credit checks in heaven
more than likely an investigation dropped from hell

mr. moneybags, the friend I never had
won’t you pour upon the rain
numb the pain with cold hard cash

a penny here and a penny there
a penny spent is a penny burned
a dollar here and a dollar there
one less thing that I have to care about

lack of money is the root of everything that is evil
or so I heard a gentleman with money once say
if I had a lot of money, I would go and spend it
to know the luxury of giving it all away

mr. moneybags, the friend I never had
won’t you bring upon the rain
numb the pain with cold hard cash
cold hard cash, cold hard cash
cold hard cash, cold hard cash

20. About “Follow the Moon” (Live’07)

21. Follow the Moon (Live ’07)
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

love is a comet in the sky
it feels good most of the time but it hurts and hits hard

I am in love with you tonight
I don’t know if its wrong or right but I want you to know

I hope you find what you’re lookin’ for
I believe you’ll get what you need
but either way, I’ll be there for you
tell you what – we’ll follow the moon

you can’t be forced to love me too
so i’ll be a friend to you until then, here I am

I will be here by your side
thick and thin, you can confide and I want you to know

I hope you find what you’re lookin’ for
I believe you’ll get what you need
but either way, I’ll be there for you
tell you what – we’ll follow the moon

22. Discussion of “Determined” ’07
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

you can say whatever you want
I don’t care, so give me your best shot
’cause I’m making my way every day
and I don’t think I’ll stop until I get exactly what I want.

you can laugh at my expense
i don’t care, I’m not livin’ with pretense
’cause I’m making my way every day
and I don’t think I’ll stop until I get exactly what I want

you can say whatever you want
I don’t care, so give me your best shot
’cause I’m making my way every day
and I don’t think I’ll stop until I get exactly what I want.

23. Discussion of “November Walk” ’07
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

on a cold November morn,
I went to take a walk
and you became my thoughts
i was only seventeen, I didn’t know a thing, not like now

we could have been a good family and I
know, deep inside, that I could have been
a good mother to my child, but I had to live my life.

there are days when I still grieve and
days I just can’t breathe
or believe what I have done.
I’m so sorry for the life I threw away, oh
I can’t forget

we could have been a good family and I
know, deep inside, that I could have been
a good mother to my child, but I had to live my life.

oh, i was so wild, couldn’t ever see past all of my pain
but yours grew on and on inside of me
so our song lives on today,  yes, our song lives on today.

24. Discussion of “The Nothing” ’07
Music and Lyrics by John Paul Sharp

if I drink one more, i’ll be hitting the floor
i’m having a problem chasing these blues away
if it’s not one thing, it’s another, oh boy
tears may fall like rain, but i’ll be back up again and again
I could disappear for good

up all night from hitting the pipe – yikes
i’m having a problem connecting the dots today

but i’ll get back there again and again
I could disappear for good, for good, for good, good
i’m misunderstood, again

good to be here, though I think it is queer
i’m having a problem – the demons are just at bay
there is The Nothing to discover
nothing to take away,
but i’d go back there again and again
’cause I could disappear for
I could disappear for
I could disappear for good
