This is my first full-length album in many years. I used to be quite prolific and then I started working in theatre and before I knew it, years had gone by since the last album. Thus began my vision for 2018: “Two Thousand GREATeen.” I decided enough was enough. I’m going to make some changes.

Since 2017, I’ve made life choices which would bring me back to being the recording artist I am. I made my day job a little less stressful by stepping out of management. I stopped doing theatre completely. I booked my first performance at a venue (Gallery 1412) very close to my home on March 24, 2018, called Love and Healing, which ended up having a full house audience with barely any standing room. We had to put chairs on the stage. It was a complete success. I’d never felt more myself.

I joined the artist collective at Gallery 1412 because they were so close and the grand piano there is so beautiful. I started doing monthly concerts in May: #MESS, Faggot’s Got Jokes, Birthday Blowout, Let’s Have a Jag, 2 Kool 4 Skool, SCARET!, and Holidazed. Each concert had a theme and I would pick out songs from the past, but also write new songs to fill in an hour’s worth of original music.

By November, I had 20 new songs I’d written and not recorded. There were also a handful of tracks I’d worked on over the course of a few years but never finished. As an artist, I don’t feel right when I have unreleased songs. I need to get them out and heard so I can move forward and create new work.

That’s where Pleasurrection came together. I gave myself a deadline to finish this work by the end of the year and I successfully met it. I feel great about all of the recordings. I spent hundreds of hours putting this together. listening on my earphones, my monitors, and the massive speakers at Gallery1412. I recorded the grand piano for most of the songs in this album. Pleasurrection was easily the largest project I’ve undertaken in the history of my career as a recording songwriter.

The songs are all reflective of the lessons I’ve been learning in life. I’ve been working hard to make myself the best person I can be and to live the best life I can live. I’ve loved so hard. Thank you for listening.

DISC 1 – THE DARKNESS

1 Caution
Vocals and Music by John Paul Sharp

2 Resurrection
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

I can’t forget the day you died,
the way the sky cries upon your grave which goes unnamed.
And I remember how they laughed,
a sigh of relief as you passed on to the other side, and I said,
Hey!

You left me here on my own,
to go it alone and face the pain of daily life.
If it has to be this way, then I have to bring you back, and I said,
Hey!

From the Death Fog,
I call for you and the unborn of those who banish you!
Come forth!

I breathe to you new life,
I need you at my side so we can take our right place.
We’ll live to love another day,
no matter the cost of those who dare to come between, and I said,
Hey!

3 Scaret
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp
Vocals by Jason Dooley and John Paul Sharp

O, Lort, you know I work so hard to pay my bills and my rent.
O, Lort, will I just do this forever until my time in the world is spent?
I second guess all this mess.
What’s the point of getting dressed?
I’m upset — I’m upset!

O, Lort, I’m scaret, I’m terrified – frozen in mind!
Is this it? Is this hell? O, Lort, I’m scaret!

O, Lort, I got student debt for life! I’m a slave for what I’ve learnt.
O, Lort, let me win the Mega Millions! Pay for the house in my mind.
I’m not fine, I’m a mess.
What’s the point of getting dressed?
I’m upset — I’m upset!

O, Lort, I’m scaret, I’m terrified – frozen in mind!
Is this it? Is this hell? O, Lort, I’m scaret!

4 Do Me
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

Sometimes I have big ass voice.
Okay, it’s all the time and I get in my own way,
Writin’ letters for what I shouldn’t say and I feel bad.
I internalize, oh, it’s after that, I realize …

You do you, and I’ll do me and
We’ll keep goin’ like there’s nothing more to see.
There’s nothing wrong with you and especially me.

You got me so fucked up you got me runnin’ my mind
You got me runnin’ amok,
You got me flip-floppin’ around my thoughts,
And then my mouth flops open and out comes the claws.
When will I learn my place on Earth?
‘Cause it’s not here and it’s not now, but I’ll figure it out somehow.

5 Cry n’ Make Out
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp
Vocals by Jack Tusk and John Paul Sharp

How in the world did we get here?
Where in the world are we going?
We are overwhelmed.

Our childhood taught us lies.
Role models are monsters in disguise.
We are overwhelmed.

Let’s cry n’ make out, simultaneously.
So wet, so warm, so wild, wash our pain-face with our love.
Let it all come crashing down,
make the world go away for one more day with you.

We’re so tired of being strong for the strong.
Now is the time to be weak for the weak who can’t sleep at night.

Let’s cry n’ make out, simultaneously.
So wet, so warm, so wild, wash our pain-face with our love.
Let it all come crashing down,
make the world go away for one more day with you.

6 Love Me Like I Love You
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

Who thinks about me the way I think about you?
Who cares about me the way I care about you?
Who dreams of me the way I dream of you?
When will you love me like I love you?

What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with you?
What am I supposed to do?
What’s right with us is where I wanna’ be.
When will you love me like I love you?

Why? Why does no one love me like I love you?
Why can’t you show me the things I’ve shown you?
Why is my heart breaking when I think of you?
When will you love me like I love you?

7 Try for Me
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

You sit there, wonderin’ why nobody talks with you, walks with you,
Or sits there by your side.
No one can say I didn’t try, ’cause I tried to talk with you, walk with you,
And be there by your side.

But you just took it all, reciprocation mild,
And if you want to act older than a child,

Try for me. Do you think that you could try for me?
You know I love it when you try for me.
You’ve been holding yourself back with your attitude intact
And it’s not too much to ask.
Try for me! It’s so easy when you try for me.
Stay together when you try for me.
From the lowest of the lows to the highest of the highs,
I need you there, by my side. Try for me.

We only got this one life.
We got to enjoy ourselves,
Explore the world, and we don’t got much time.
Don’t retreat inside! Put your doubts away.
Come out and play. Be present in your mind.

Life is give and take. Relationships can end.
But if you want to be my friend,

Try for me.

8 Fortnite
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp
Vocals by Jason Dooley and John Paul Sharp

Life is hard and then you die.
Tbh, idk why I try.
Stupid people ev’ry where are responsible for my grey hairs!
Ev’ry day is like a chore.
Days forgotten when I wanted more.
Then I found this little game with rewards that I can claim!

You can talk to me on Fortnite.
That’s where I’ll be from now on.
Traveling along, killing ev’ry single one, until my time’s up.
Return to lobby!!
You can catch me at the Loot Lake,
Or being Salty at the Springs.
Snatching whores in Snobby Shores,
Gettin’ Shifty in the Shafts, in the Lucky Landing.

Fuck this stupid fucking earth.
Ev’ry body is a fucking fake.
Taking ev’rything they can.
Always calling me out of my name.
I have had it with this place.
You can fuck yourself you fuck-face fuckerheads.
I so badly need a lay, but instead I’ll play this game.

There is no thing so sweet as your first trap kill.
No thing so sweet as killing five in a round.
I think we’ve found our home!

You can talk to us on Fortnite.
That’s where we’ll be from now on.
Traveling along, killing ev’ry single one, until our time’s up.
Return to lobby!!
You can catch us at the Loot Lake,
Or being Salty at the Springs.
Snatching whores in Snobby Shores,
Gettin’ Shifty in the Shafts, in the Lucky Landing.
You can talk to us on Fortnite!

9 Susan Collins
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

Susan Collins, you’re a low-down dirty mutherfucker.
You had the chance to make America great for once.
But you didn’t. You held the door wide open
For the Patriarchy to keep fuckin’,
‘Fore the World says Her goodbyes,
The World, She cries.
Her greatest species has failed again.

You’re a liar, Susan!
And our daughters will pay.
Our granddaughters will pay you back.
Susan, you will see,
Well before you die,
Just how much your words can buy.

You should be careful what you wish for.
I’m not hoping, I’m just saying,
I don’t think this ends well.
I don’t think this ends well for you or anyone.

10 Good Boy
Words by Raine Eubank
Vocals and Music by John Paul Sharp

We were really sad and lonely.
Our family needed somebody to love.
And just like that,
You and the cat gave us something to take care of.

You got into the garbage constantly.
You’d shit on the floor when we’d leave.
And now that you’ve left us,
I remember, you blessed us.
Now, all that is left is to grieve.

We’ll remember you always as with us.
How you protected and brought us all joy.
I hope in Dog Heaven, there’s somebody petting you,
Saying, “You’re such a Good Boy.”

11 Remember My Love
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

You’re the best human I’ve met.
And I hate to say, I’m getting upset.
You give me nothing to get mad at you about.
Listen, here, child, ’cause I’ve been around.
And you’ve just begun to get down.
If only we had met a different place and time.
That’s fine. Maybe some day down the road.

‘Cause I’m letting you go
Even though it’s so hard for me to be living without you.
I’m letting you go
In the hope you’ll come back to me once you’ve seen the world and
You remember my love.

I’m not fool and I don’t pretend,
I’m not the one to live a lie.
This is not me saying goodbye.
I’m saying go out there and get your kind of life.
I’m aware you may never come back and it cuts me like a knife.
But that’s better than down the line,
Before we waste more of our moments in this life.
That’s fine. Maybe some day down the road.

‘Cause I’m letting you go
Even though it’s so hard for me to be living without you.
I’m letting you go
In the hope you’ll come back to me once you’ve seen the world and
You remember my love.

12 Wish
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

We over-complicate our gifts, the pleasures of this life,
Anything that’s nice, everything that’s fine.
And we have overcome so much and we have come to far to
Let a little thing come between our love, is strong like a tree
And if anything means anything to me,

My wish for us is to find our way back to the place where we were kind.
Even though, right now, it’s impossible, not at this place or time.

I won’t give up on you if you don’t give up on me.
Baby, can’t you see? We’ll keep making memories.
And they will be better than the past.
‘Cause we are here and built to last.
Please, we know it’s worth the fight.
You know that’s right.
The darkness, the light.
And if anything means anything to me,

My wish for us is to find our way back to the place where we were kind.
Even though, right now, it’s impossible, not at this place or time.

DISC 2 – THE LIGHT

13 My Pleasure
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

Somethin’ about the way you smiled at me today
Makes me feel something I can’t explain.
Help me to make the better choices in this life,
Never knowing what may come

(don’t wanna’ fuck it up again, I’m just gettin’ ahead)
(get it)
(and I’m not gonna’ let some beauty hold me back)
(hold me back)

When you love someone who don’t love you back,
You don’t have to be strong.
When you love someone who don’t love you back,
You will always give more.
When you love someone who don’t love you back,
You will never belong.
When you love someone who don’t love you back,
You get left with the door.

This is my pleasure.

14 Happy Birthday to Me
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

Well, what can I say about getting this old?
I keep forgetting my story isn’t told.

I’ve gotten better with time and space,
But I’m still that kiddo’ with that smile on that face.

Time’s fine when you’re not paying attention,
That’s the key to life.

It’s so much easier said than done.
Regrets come from wisdom and joy from love.

I want to be better at being a friend,
So I’ll just keep loving you ’till the bitter end.

Time’s fine when you’re not paying attention,
That’s the key to life.

There’s so much more that I want to achieve
But time’s going faster than I can live my dreams.

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me,
It’s a pleasure to be living, happy birthday to me.

I’m happy you’re here.

15 My Man
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

My man, he is gentle, he is kind.
He’s intelligent and fine from the inside-out.
My man, he makes me number one and we have all the fun.
We don’t take love for granted, ’cause we got shit to do,
Together, makin’ memories.

My man, he loves to touch my body
And not just any body but mine, he makes me feel alive.
My man, he looks me in the eyes. He doesn’t sugarcoat me with lies.
‘Cause we are building a future, moments at a time,
Together makin’ mem’ries.

The world has tried successfully to keep us apart.
But now that we found ourselves, we have a fighting a chance.
I love you. You love me. And we know how lucky we are.
And just how far we’ve come.

My man, I love to make him smile
I love to make him laugh for awhile, to lighten up his load.
My man, he knows that I am beautiful.
He knows that I am special to him.
And we go back and forth, like soulmates in the sky.
Forever, makin’ mem’ries.

16 Make Time
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I am depressed,
I’m just here, tired, and wond’ring what comes next?
Goin’ through the motions, living ev’ry day.
Doin’ my thing. But what is my thing?

Don’t you know you’ve gotta’ make time if you wanna’ live a great life.
It’s gonna’ take a straight line, define what’s best for you
And those you love too.
That’s all it takes. That’s all it takes.

Just don’t forget, you shouldn’t go it alone.
You need your friends to help you answer your call.
There is such potential in each one of us.
So, let’s get out there and have ourselves some fun.

Don’t you know you’ve gotta’ make time if you wanna’ live a great life.
It’s gonna’ take a straight line, define what’s best for you
And those you love too.
That’s all it takes. That’s all it takes.

17 Prophecy
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

Fear and loathing here and there. Insecurity is ev’rywhere.
Just how many tweets does it take to end the world as we know it?
Step by step and day by day, our reality is slippin’ away
And so much as hope may never die,
I hate to say that it might be too late.

That’s okay, I’ll spend more time with you.
Take what’s left and love the world with you.
Oh, what’s to worry? Take my hand.
Let’s make love the only prophecy.

Cloudy skies and sad, side-eyes. People terrified to go out at night.
Will you walk with me and have my side
Should there be someone angry?
Through the darkness comes a light.
We can’t see it, but it’s gonna’ be alright.
Not without some pain and suffering,
But we will overcome this resurrection.

Even though so many lie to us,
Even though the world is fine for some.
Oh, don’t you worry, take my hand.
Let’s make love the only prophecy.

We will love each other as The Prophecy.

18 Make Love
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

You’ve been through it all and I’ve seen the rise and fall of you
More than once — so glorious
Let me hold you still and I’ll wash away the ill of the aftermath
Of the daily grind of life.

I will take you in, with these hands, with these hands
With these hands, I heal you, take away the energies.
I will breathe you out, with my mouth, with my mouth.
With my mouth, I heal you, kiss away the pain.

I can feel your heart and it’s calling out to mine.
Can you feel my own calling back to yours?
Nothing else around but our love we have surrounded ourselves into.
Just me and you in love.

I will take you in, with these hands, with these hands
With these hands, I heal you, take away the energies.
I will breathe you out, with my mouth, with my mouth.
With my mouth, I heal you, kiss away the pain.

19 Shine Our Light with Love
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp
Vocals by Emma Elezi Wilkinson and John Paul Sharp

Open your heart to those you love to hate the most.
There is something there,
Something you need to address within yourself.
Anything less is wrong if you want the best and move on.
We could use your help to shine our light with love.

It’s not too late to fight hate with our devotion.
We are the same souls in pain, swimming in emotion.
Learn to forgive, even though it feels so wrong.
That is what it takes to shine our light with love.

Open your heart to those you love to hate the most.
There is something there,
Something you need to address within yourself.
Anything less is wrong if you want the best and move on.
We could use your help to shine our light with love.

20 Motivators
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

Don’t give up and you don’t give in.
Someday soon, you’ll get another win.
Hold on tight, ’cause a storm is comin’.
Stay on track, you’ll have ev’ryone runnin’.
This is it, there is no turning back.
Ev’ryone is expecting something.
Might as well do whatever your best is.
After all, you know you can do better.

When everyone says something’s wrong with me and my life,
I brush it off and think of how, God knows,
Ev’rybody goes some time and so I,

Don’t give up and you don’t give in.
Someday soon, you’ll get another win.
Hold on tight, ’cause a storm is comin’.
Stay on track, you’ll have ev’ryone runnin’.
This is it, there is no turning back.
Ev’ryone is expecting something.
Might as well do whatever your best is.
After all, you know you can do better.

They will say what they may say. I go where my heart wants to,
Regardless of society and all those who wish me harm and strife, and so I

Don’t give up and you don’t give in.
Someday soon, you’ll get another win.
Hold on tight, ’cause a storm is comin’.
Stay on track, you’ll have ev’ryone runnin’.
This is it, there is no turning back.
Ev’ryone is expecting something.
Might as well do whatever your best is.
After all, you know you can do better.

Think of me as you would see a star in the sky.
I shine so bright, ev’ry night, all day, no matter what you say!
Hey!

21 Not My Burden
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

Take a look at me, I’m feelin’ free.
You best believe, I’m so fine.
There it go. See it go?
Feel that flow? It’s comin’ from my soul.
Feel that flow? That’s my soul.
Feel that flow? That’s my soul.

You seem surprised to see my open eyes.
I realize that you can’t play me.
What’s the point? Let’s smoke a joint.
Feel that flow? It’s coming from my sould.
That’s my soul. Feel that flow.
That’s my soul. Feel that flow.

This is just your drama.
This is not mine.
This is just your drama.
This is not my burden.
It’s not my burden.
It’s not my burden.
Not my burden.

Nothin’ bothers me. You don’t bother me.
You do you and I’ll do me.
There it go! See it go?
That’s my flow! It’s comin’ from my soul.
Feel that flow. That’s my soul.
Feel that flow. That’s my soul.

This is just your drama.
This is not mine.
This is just your drama.
This is not my burden.
It’s not my burden.
It’s not my burden.
Not my burden.

22 Happy and Whole
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

As we go into a New Year, hope is what I’ll hold.
And even though it seems like nothing’s working, I know ..
It will be fine.
It doesn’t matter, none of this matters.
All that matters is love. It has to be enough.
I need you to know that I love you so.
My life wouldn’t be the same.
You make it a better day.
It’s the time to recognize what is now.
And know that I also feel it.
The struggle is oh, so real.
But you make me feel like I’m not alone tonight.

We are drowning in the sea of life.
We hold our breath so long that we cannot see anything but bright lies!
Oh, my, and nothing matters.
It doesn’t matter, it’s fucking bullshit.
All that matters is love. It’s gonna’ be enough.
I’m happy you’re here and I love you dear.
Hold on to the love of life and let it lift your heart.
It’s the time to recognize what is now.
And know that I also feel it.
The struggle is oh, so real.
But you make me feel like I’m whole, happy and whole.

I’m happy you’re here, and I love you, dear.

23 Thank You
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

I just wanted to thank you for all you’ve done.
You’re the one who brings me hope and joy.
And you know I love you.
You’re the reason I wake up ev’ry single day and
Be my best version of who I wanna’ be.
And you’re the one I wanna’ be around.

You put up with my nonsense, even laugh at my jokes.
You’re always there to remind me how to love me the most.
Just being there shows that you care.
I’m aware and I’m grateful for you, what you do, and how you do it.

We’ve been here at this Party of Life and you know, it makes me smile,
When I think of the love we share.
I cannot live without you here, by my side, ready to fight
For the lives we’ve always wanted
And you’re the one I wanna’ be around.

No matter where I’m going, I’ll remember your love.
And it will make me better, make me fit like a glove.
Just being there shows that you care.
I’m aware and I’m grateful for you, what you do, and how you do it.

There will always be a place for you,
In my heart, my home, and my life too.
If ever you need someone to be there,
You can call me, knowing how I care.
You’re the one I wanna’ be around. ♥

I just wanted to thank you for all you’ve done.
You’re the one who brings me hope and joy.
And you know I love you.
You’re the reason I wake up ev’ry single day and
Be my best version of who I wanna’ be.
And you’re the one I wanna’ be around.

24 Final Moments
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

Now, in these final moments,
Do you believe in the dreams we have chosen?
Even though I’m leaving …

Nothing will change how I feel about you.
You know I know the things you do.
When you think of me, you know it’s true.
How I loved you.

Never forget, when I am gone, how I loved to sing you songs.
Songs from my heart, songs from my mind.
Songs of love, and songs of time.

I know I am good, I am kind.
I know I am talented.
I know when I go out, it’s fine, but not really.

I’m a mess at my job, at my day job.
I’m not good at being regular (she’s extra).
I’m an artist, I’m an artist, I’m an artist
For you and me

Never forget, when I am gone, how I loved to sing you songs.
Songs from my heart, songs from my mind.
Songs of love, and songs of time.

25 Holding
Words and Music by John Paul Sharp

Thinkin’ ’bout the times I spent my life
Holding onto nothin’ when it felt like somethin’ so it was enough.
